This week the Mississippi Gaming Commission announced that sportsbetting revenues surged to $4 million in March, up 115% from February, although numbers were down 5.3% from last year.
Handle was up 17.2% from February, but was also down 22.8% from last year. $31 million of the handle came from coastal casinos, with $22.6 million bet on basketball. Baseball bets were $499,109. Parlay wagers were $2.6 million and $5.2 million was bet on other sports.
The state's central casinos had $9.3 million in wagers and revenues of $1.4 million. Northern casinos had handle of $7.4 million.
There currently isn't any online sportsbetting options in the state, and the most recent attempt to authorize mobile wagers died in committee earlier this year. This means that The Magnolia State will have to wait until at least next year to see mobile sportsbetting within their borders.
