Betting group Resorts World has announced that they've launched their Resorts WorldBET app, which brings their online sportsbetting service into the regulated New York market.

The launch of the app will allow gamblers in New York state to place wagers on sporting events around the globe, including on basketball, football, baseball, ice hockey, soccer, and more. The app is going live just in time for the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, also known as March Madness.

Gamblers who want to use the app need to be 21 or older and physically located in the state of New York at the time of using the app. Resorts World is a subsidiary of Genting Group, who's been aiming on expanding its online presence in the North American market.

Regarding the launch, Genting Americas East President Robert DeSalvio said, "This is something our players and sports enthusiasts have wanted for a long time, and we're excited to say Resorts World New York now has mobile sports betting.

"From our experience in having a Sportsbook in both our Catskills and Las Vegas properties, we were able to take feedback from our players and deliver what New Yorkers really want in a mobile sports betting app. By partnering with an innovative product and technology-focused company in PointsBet as our platform provider, we believe Resorts WorldBET will only add to our success."

There are currently nine operators that are licensed to provide online sportsbetting services in New York, with Rush Street Interactive, Caesars, DraftKings, and FanDuel among the heavy hitters that are active in the Empire State.
