The state of Nevada has posted its gambling results for the month of February 2022, noting that casinos generated $1.1 billion in revenue for the period and marking the twelfth consecutive month that the mark has been hit.
The numbers are up 44% from last year, and were up 7% from February 2020 and 10% from February 2019. The latter two numbers are significant, as they're from before the Covid-19 pandemic started affecting the revenues of casinos in the state.
Nevada casinos got a boost during the month thanks to Las Vegas hosting the 2022 NHL All-Star Game. The Super Bowl and various college basketball tournaments also added to the sportsbetting revenues in the state, as did people returning to resorts as the Covid-19 pandemic winds down in the United States.
Regarding the state's results moving forward analyst Michael Lawton said, "Our comparisons are going to become extremely difficult in the upcoming months and we are optimistic that this level of gaming win will continue.
"However, as you are aware there is a great deal of macro-economic and geopolitical events that are happening in real-time, which are concerning and it is unknown how it could impact the trends we have been witnessing for the past year."
The revenues are a record for the state of Nevada in terms of consecutive months that revenues have eclipsed the $1 billion mark.
