Betting group 888 Holdings announced this week that they've been granted an online gaming license by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, which will allow the company to offer games in the province when iGaming launches in the province on April 4th.
The company will be launching online casino, sportsbetting, and poker products in the province, and marks a new market for the long-time online betting market.
"We are delighted to have been awarded a licence by the AGCO and look forward to launching in the market when it officially opens," said 888 CEO Itai Pazner. "As a group, our focus is on strengthening our presence and offer to customers across key regulated markets. To that end, Ontario represents an attractive long-term growth opportunity for 888 and this is an extremely strategically important milestone for us."
It should be noted that 888 has recently been hit with a massive £9.4 million fine by the UK Gambling Commission after numerous social responsibility and anti-money laundering policy failures.
