Gaming operator Bet-at-home has closed down its Malta business after previously announcing that it was closing its Austrian betting site in October.
The company had previously announced that they would close their Austrian site after players at the site had sought reimbursement from unlicensed betting groups in the country. This case is still on-going and while bet-at-home thinks they'll prevail, the risk was no longer worth the reward.
Because of this closure, Bet-at-home's management decided that the company's Malta office needed to close. This branch had primarily serviced the Austrian market, while other branches serviced other countries like Germany and Ireland.
Bet-at-home has indicated that the closure will not impact customer balances, and those who have an account will still have full access to their funds.
The company has indicated that their other operations will continue, noting: "The winding up of Maltese bet-at-home.com Entertainment Ltd. therefore has no consequences for existing activities, particularly in the key markets of Germany, Austria, the UK and Ireland. In addition, work is underway to open up new markets to ensure future growth."

Hopefully it doesn't mean that people from the Maltese office will be laid off due to these changes.
