Colorado Sportsbetting Hits High in October

The state of Colorado had a banger of a month in October, as the state's bettors wagered $491.5 million on the activity, with books generating $28.6 million in revenue.

The handle total is up 133.3% from the same period last year and shattered the previous record of $408.3 million, which was set the year prior. $483.3 million was bet online, while retail betting saw $8.1 million in handle.

The most popular sport in terms of betting handle was NFL football, with $171.2 million bet. Basketball was next with $63.3 million, while college football had $52 million bet. Parlay betting came in at $89.7 million.

Gross gaming revenue was up 581% from last year, and up 27.7% from September. Revenues also were a record, coming in above the previous record of $22.4 million. Of the $28.6 million in revenues generated, $28.2 million came online, and $383,489 was generated at retail books.

Players won $462.8 million, and the casinos paid $1.2 million in taxes to the state.
