This week it was reported that Playtech founder Teddy Sagi was targeted by assassins in the island nation of Cyprus, but managed to escape due to some last-minute intelligence.
The plot was allegedly put together by a 38-year-old Russian national that has ties to the Iranian government. The details on the case are being held tightly to the vest due to safety concerns, but Sagi was supposedly targeted due to debts to Russian partners, who in turn sold those debts to the Russian Mafia, according to the Jerusalem Post.
Sagi was reportedly saved from the attempt on his life after Cyprus security officials informed him and his team of the plot. For his part, Sagi (through his business) denied the Russian claims and said that the plot was related to Iranian assassins. Whether this is to be believed or not will rely on readers and additional facts. Sagi did serve time in prison during the 90's due to convictions for fraud and bribery in his native Israel.

Whoa. That's crazy. I don't wish harm on anyone, but it's pretty apparent ol' Teddy is messing with some bad hombres.
Wow. Well this ex-con certainly has a "colourful" history and plenty of skeletons in the closet, shall we say, so this news actually isn't all that surprising to me.
Wouldn't it be wild if it turned out to be an angry customer of one of his company's casinos fed up with trying to reclaim jackpot winnings that were stolen from them?

Probably shouldn't mess with people with ties to the Russian mafia.
Now that is some sound life advice.

Wish I learned that lesson years ago.
