The upcoming Emerald Bay Resort and Casino in Cebu, Philippines will open later than expected, with the first phase of the resort opening in the first quarter of 2023.
The resort was planned to open for a soft launch next spring with a Phase I opening in the third quarter, but that is now being pushed back by a few months. The reasoning for this is circumstances related to the Covid-19 pandemic, with work slowed down as well as it being harder to obtain materials.
This new resort is intended to be a premiere betting destination on the global stage, with the site said to rival big-name sites in Macau and other east-Asian locations. It would also stand as the only casino of this size outside the Filipino capital of Manilla.
As of press time, the resort is over 40% complete and there are estimates that the full resort will not be completed until 2027, as there will be expanded options for gaming and hotel rooms. Reportedly, the resort owner PH Resorts Group Holdings, Inc. said that they're working with more than 24 companies to get the design and construction for the resort finished.
