American sportsbetting group DraftKings announced today that they've come to terms with the National Hockey League to become an Official Sports Betting, Daily Fantasy, and iGaming partner for the United States.
The deal doesn't apply in Canada, where the NHL has teams in Montreal, Toronto, Ontario, Calgary, Winnipeg, and Vancouver, but will give the company access to marketing opportunities within the US. The operator will also get use of league assets like team logos in order to push promotions and run exclusive contests for users.
This agreement came the same day that DraftKings announced that they've come to terms with Turner Sports, which will see it serving as the Exclusive Sportsbook and Daily Fantasy Sports Partner for the network in regards to NHL coverage.
Both deals came on the day of the launch of the 2021-2022 season, where the defending Stanley Cup Champions Tampa Bay took on the Pittsburgh Penguins. The league's newest expansion team, the Seattle Kraken, also played against the Vegas Golden Knights.
Commenting on the agreement DraftKings Co-Founder Jason Robins said, "Over the years DraftKings has become a brand synonymous with sports, with a fan-first approach through real-money gaming options, and we look forward to collaborating with the NHL alongside Turner Sports and Bleacher Report to provide hockey fans with what's next in sports."
NHL Chief Business Officer Keith Wachtel added: "We're proud to welcome back DraftKings to the NHL family, and look forward to collaborating together with Turner Sports - one of our valued media partners - to develop unique and exciting content for our fans."
