Swedish betting group Svenska Spel announced this week that they're partnering with Esportshall to help promote eSports in the country, with the goal of making the activity popular amount players.

The deal will see the two looking to help develop eSprots, with competitions for different games set to begin on October 16th. Svenska Spel will help hold the competitions and will promote them to gain viewership and participation. eSports have grown in popularity throughout the world, with players clamoring to watch high-end video game players participate in tournaments with large cash prizes up for grabs.

Betting on the activity has also become a commodity, with punters and books treating the events like a regular sporting event.

Commenting on the deal Svenska Spel Sponsorship Project Manager Jimmy Sandberg said, "Svenska Spel wants to be involved in developing Swedish e-sports, from grassroots to elite. We are therefore very happy to be able to participate and enable these grassroots cups at Esportshall together with the Elite Series."

Esportshall Founder Karl Sergal also commented, noting: "Esportshall begins a new collaboration with Elitserien and Svenska Spel, with the aim of strengthening the grassroots in Swedish e-sports. When Esportshall went from idea to reality, it felt natural to pull our straw to the pile and support Sweden's largest e-sports league by giving them access to our premises."
