BetRivers to Offer Jai-Alai Betting

This week Rush Street Interactive announced that its BetRivers sportsbook will be becoming the Official Betting Partner of Magic City Jai-Alai, which will make the book the first online betting platform to provide wagers on the sport.

The agreement will see Rush Street able to obtain league data and streaming rights, which will facilitate betting on the sport in real-time. Jai-Alai uses large basket scoops and sees players slinging a hard ball against a wall in an effort to score points. The sport is particularly popular in the United States and Philippines.

Commenting on the deal RSI CEO Richard Schwartz said, "RSI is excited to partner with Magic City Jai-Alai to pioneer this new fast-paced format of play for jai-alai, a sport which has long been a betting favorite and has a storied history in Florida dating back to the 1930's.

"Jai-Alai is the fastest sport in the world, with ball speeds exceeding 150 mph, and with this new electrifying format, we are really excited to offer bettors a unique way to watch in real-time and bet in-play on a sport we know they will love."

This reminds me of the Jackass episode where Steve-O and Johnny Knoxville went to the Jai-Alai arena and got pelted with oranges at like 130mph.

Watch for yourselves.

What on earth is Jai Alai? I've never heard of it before.

So I've seen it but don't know how it works really. I think it's like racquet ball, but with these giant scoops that send the balls out at like 150mph. I've only ever seen it played in Florida, though.

I looked it up. Everything about it is bizarre.

I had to look it up myself too, I've never heard of it before. Wikipedia says it's popular in Latinamerica, but yeah it seems like a strange sport.
