Ukranian Gaming Regulator Employee Charged With Bribery

This story was published more than 3 years ago.

This week a Ukranian member of the country's regulatory body for betting was arrested amid claims that he took in bribes worth $90,000 to approve of gaming licenses and permits.

The investigation into the member was conducted by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, who found evidence of the official taking the bribes. At the time of the crime, the member was serving as the acting chairman of the Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries. The official was given the money to approve of gaming establishments in the city of Cherniv in exchange for the money.

The gaming regulator is a new entity for Ukraine, which established the division last year when the country formally legalized gambling.

The official is yet to be named and will be heading to court to face the charges against him.

Casino Listings News is following the story and will be updating readers as details on the case emerge.
