Veikkaus Makes Loss Limits Permanent

Finland's state-owned gambling monopoly Veikkaus is turning temporary loss limits for the gambling industry into a permanent fixture, meaning that players will only be able to lose €500 per day at the site.

Players were initially capped at €1,000 per day, but will now drop to that lower level. Players in the country will also have a monthly loss limit of €2,000.

The loss limit was implemented last may in an effort to halt potential player losses related to increased online play due to the Covid-19 pandemic keeping punters at home. The limit rule has been extended multiple times, and the country decided that it's in the best interest of players to make the limits permanent.

Speaking about the change Finland's Minister of the Interior Maria Ohisalo said, "The reduced maximum loss limit has been in use for a year. Loss limits are a good way to prevent gambling harm.

"In addition to gambling problems, lowering the loss limit will combat over-indebtedness and livelihood problems, and I am pleased that the daily loss limit will be permanently reduced from €1,000 to €500."
