Casino operator LeoVegas Group announced today that they're going to be trying their hand at game development as they launched Blue Guru Games, a studio that will develop games for its own brands as well as other brands.
Blue Guru is setting up to have a roster of employees that has more than 20 years of game development experience and will shoot out games for LeoVegas as well as other groups that decide to take on the company's games. The first suite of games is slated for release later this year, with the goal of putting out at least 20 titles in the company's first two years.
LeoVegas currently offers thousands of games by more than 60 developers, and is known as one of the larger gaming brands in the online space.
Commenting on the studio's launch LeoVegas CEO Gustaf Hagman said, "For a long time we have created exclusive games with the help of external providers, but now the time is right to take the step to do game development entirely on our own. Drawing from our data and casino knowledge we will be able to drive innovation and create games that our customers truly enjoy. These may be everything from niche, local games for individual markets to broad international games. In addition, we will create games and unique characters that can be used in our marketing, which will build stronger loyalty to our brands. Having great flexibility in producing games is a competitive advantage, and it will also give us a new revenue stream over time."
