A statewide set of restrictions in the Australian state of Victoria has caused Crown Resorts to temporarily shut down its Melbourne location until June 3rd.
The state was beginning what it called a "circuit-breaker lockdown" effective at 11:59pm on May 27th through June 3rd in an attempt to halt the rising number of Covid cases. There were 12 new cases of Covid reported in Victoria, which stands as the highest total since October of last year. The lockdown will see non-essential retail forced to shut for the week, and Crown will be shutting its Melbourne location for the duration of the lockdown.
The hotel at the property will still be open for booking for approved purposes, but the gaming floor, food, and retail sectors will be shuttered for the week.
