BetMGM Signs Sponorship With Baltimore Ravens

This story was published more than 3 years ago.

Today it was revealed that American betting group BetMGM has signed a sponsorship deal with the Baltimore Ravens of the NFL, less than 24 hours after the state signed a bill legalizing sportsbetting into law.

The deal will see BetMGM becoming an official partner of the Baltimore Ravens, and will see the operator getting access to use the team's name and logo in marketing on their sites and throughout their casinos. It should be noted that this deal isn't exclusive, with the Ravens planning to allow three betting groups to partner with the team.

Maryland is allowing for retail sportsbetting, but there will be many more online licenses available, making it imperative for operators to get a leg-up on marketing.

Commenting on the deal BetMGM's Matt Prevost said, "Maryland is an incredibly important state for us. It is a state where we are positioned to succeed and we wanted, frankly, to connect with fans in Baltimore. The teams are a great way to connect with potential sports bettors."

"The NFL teams and particularly the Ravens have a terrific emotional connection with their fans. We can connect with them through that. In terms of emotional engagement and reach, nothing tops the NFL."

These sponsorships are funny to me. I swear I've seen multiple betting sponsors for one event. Like the first period has one, the second another, and the third another! At what point are there diminishing returns for this stuff?
