Bet365 Fined in Sweden

This story was published more than 3 years ago.

Bet365-related group Hillside ENC has been fined SEK 1 million in Sweden for taking wagers on a U18 football match.

Regulator Spelinspektionen issued the fine and an official warning to the operator for taking action on a match between Kronängs IF and Mariedals IK in March of last year. The match had 71% of players participating under the age of 18, and thus should not have had wagers offered on it.

The fine is substantial, but the regulator did note that the violation was a one-time deal and that there were circumstances that caused the match to fall through the cracks. Bet365 has also taken steps to prohibit betting on matches all the way up to U23, which it's not legally required to do.

No comment from Bet365 was available as of press time.
