Sportsbetting Goes Live in Virginia

This story was published more than 3 years ago.

The state of Virginia has seen its sportsbetting market go live, with a bunch of different services now available if you're physically located within the state.

Books under the following brands are now live in the state, which will include in-person betting at casinos as well as online wagering: Rivers Casino Portsmouth, Caesars, DraftKings, and BetMGM. The state had been working on legalizing and building regulations for the activity for about a year, and lawmakers were keen on getting a service up in time for the Super Bowl, which will take place on Sunday.

The state is looking for ways to generate tax revenues, while casinos are keen to get money in, as visitors have been restricted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Punters aged 21 or older and physically located in Virginia can take part in the action now. There's likely a bunch of different offers out to entice punters in the state.
