Shinnecock Tribe to Build Casino in the Hamptons

This story was published more than 3 years ago.

This week the Shinnecock Nation of Native Americans announced that they're planning to develop a casino property in The Hamptons of New York.

The location will be built on the tribe's reservation on the South Fork of Long Island, and will be a class 2 facility, which will bring bingo and video machines. The Hamptons is considered to be a swanky area, where the wealthy from New York City and the surrounding area retreat for summer. The tribe has previously tried to open casinos on their reservation before, but the plans had been thwarted. This attempt seems to have more life to it, and has the backing of Tri State Partners, which is helping develop the property.

It should be noted that there's already a casino in the county, as Jake's 58 Hotel & Casino in Islandia launched in 2017.

We're following this story and will be updating readers as we learn more.
