This story was published more than 3 years ago.

This week the Finnish Ministry of Social Affairs and Health is easing Covid-19 restrictions in the Kainuu hospital district, which will see more than 100 video slots being opened for play again.

There are 135 slot machines operated by Veikkaus in the district at shops, restaurants, and other regions. The operator doesn't have any physical casinos in the area, but they do maintain those betting machines.

Commenting on the situation Veikkaus regional sales manager Tapani Kippo said, "In making decisions, we follow the authorities' recommendations. Kainuu is now at a basic level [of Covid-19 infection], so opening procedures can be initiated."

Veikkaus did confirm yesterday that they were will require identity verification on all slot machines beginning on January 12th.
