Gaming regulator Spillemyndigheden has revealed that the country has the second-highest online betting participation in Europe, with 53.1% of gaming revenues in the country coming from online betting.

The study shows that only Sweden has a higher percentage of revenues generated by online, with numbers coming in at 59%. There were 18 countries that were studied, included the major market players throughout the continent. The movement upwards comes as the last study came in 2004. That study had the following ranks: Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, and the UK.

Mobile revenues grew to make up 61% of revenues, compared to just 11% that was recorded in 2012.

Denmark has made waves in terms of balancing betting growth with responsible gambling. The regulator has begun issuing new ID cards for gamblers, which will have to present in order to enter gambling establishments.
