Malta Suspends HDBets Gaming License

This story was published more than 4 years ago.

This week the Malta Gaming Authority announced that they've suspended the gaming license of Playbay Malta Limited, the operator of HDBets due to various violations.

Playbay Malta was found to have not adhered to the country's regulations related to anti-money laundering, which caused the license to be yanked. The site is no longer authorized to provide betting services through the country, but they must allow players access to the site to withdraw funds. The operator's license was voluntarily suspended on September 6th, but no plan to rectify shortcomings was made available, and hence, the license was formally suspended.

The MGA has been busy suspending licenses lately, with the company having dropped Knockout Gaming's license earlier in the month.

We'll update this story as a comment from Playbay Malta is issued.
