Indiana's Gaming Commission announced that sportsbetting numbers surged back to life in July, posting the strongest results for the vertical since February.
The numbers saw the amount wagered double to $70.9 million from the month prior, with baseball leading the way with $14.5 million, up from 2 million the year prior. Basketball generated $5.8 million in bets, up from $618,166 the month before. International sports saw $33.4 million wagered, up 63.5% from June.
After player winnings were subtracted, revenues for the month related to sportsbetting were $6.7 million, up 127.9% from last year.
The numbers will likely continue to grow as fall sports like football kick into place. The United States has seen their sports beginning to get underway again after suspension related to the Covid-19 pandemic.
It'll certainly be interesting to see where numbers go, given the recent reports that college football seasons may be cancelled en masse.
