UKGC Suspends Genesis Global's License

This story was published more than 4 years ago.

Today the UK Gambling Commission announced that they've suspended the gaming license for Genesis Global Ltd due to what the regulator is calling "a number of compliance issues."

The vague language is par for the course when it comes to the UKGC, as the regulator doesn't typically reveal reasons unless the breaches are particularly egregious. Due to the determination, the UKGC has ordered the betting group to suspend UK facing activity. Genesis has 12 betting sites that it uses for British traffic, including Casino Gods, Casino Joy, Genesis Casino, Spela, Sloty, Pelaa, Vegas Hero, Kassu, Casino Cruise, and others.

Customers with accounts at these sites will be permitted to access their accounts in order to withdraw funds from the casinos. Players have been urged not to bet through the sites until the violations are resolved and the license is restored.

Genesis Global is a major betting operator, holding licenses in Malta, Spain, and Sweden. Whether the loss of UK traffic is temporary or permanent, it appears that Genesis will be hurt until their issues are resolved.

We'll be following the story and will update readers as we learn more.

Oof, that's a pretty big punch in the stomach for a decent-sized casino operator. I'm interested to find out what they did to warrant a suspension. Anyone got any predictions?

I don't know. They have had a pretty clean rep here for a few years.

I do remember one case several years ago where one of our readers won 6 figures and they stuffed him around and delayed payment for a few weeks but it was resolved ok in the end.
