Romania Blocks 16 Additional Betting Sites

This story was published more than 3 years ago.

The government of Romania announced that they were blocking an additional 16 online betting sites that have been determined to be operating in the country without a license.

The news comes after a meeting by the country's regulator ONJN, who determined that the sites don't have a gaming license in Romania, and thus are operating illegally. These sites are obscure and are titles that most punters won't recognize, and are most likely scam sites named 1xBet90708 and Wazamba777.

To date, the regulator has banned more than 70 domains since Romania regulated online betting in 2016. Internet Service Providers are now compelled to block access to the sites, thereby restricting access from unknowing players.
