Football player Kieran Trippier has been charged by the Football Association for breaches of betting rules, which could result in a ban.
The association claims that Trippier broke betting rules in July 2019, citing rules E8(1)(a)(ii) and E8(1)(b), although specific allegations against the player weren't disclosed. Under those rules, it appears that Trippier could have bet or given inside information on football matches, transfers, or other wagers related to the sport.
Trippier currently is playing as a right back for Atletico Madrid in La Liga, but he does play on the English national team. He previously played for Burnley and Tottenham Hotspur before leaving for Spain last year.
The player will have until May 18th to respond to the charges. We'll be following the story and updating readers as we learn more.

We're used to read of such stories in the last years and not only in football but it's usually about a lower level professional players but when it's about something like Trippier who's on really elite level you should ask the question...why!?!
As far as I can remember he's on really huge contract in Atletico Madrid so why the hell you'd do something like that and risk your career...unless for fun of course...but I guess it's up to the investigators now to discover what's exactly the case with that.
