Denmark's Danske Spil has released their first quarter 2020 financial results, noting that revenues were mostly flat during the period.

Key financial indicators for the quarter ending March 31st, 2020 were:

  • Revenues up 0.8% to DKK1.23 billion
  • Lottery revenues of DKK640.4 million
  • Danske Licens Spil revenues down 0.8% to DKK511.3 million
  • DFS brand Swush generated DKK2.1 million
  • Taxes paid were down 6.7% to DKK138.1 million
  • Commission payments down 12.5% to DKK153.1 million
  • Costs dropped to DKK77.5 million
  • Operating profits were up 5% to DKK860.4 million

While it appears that Covid-19 negatively impacted sportsbetting operations as well as casino betting, lottery services helped offset these losses and were enough to prop the company up in the short term. Whether or not this will be the case in the long term is unknown, or exactly what the future will hold this summer for the group.
