Professional tennis player Patrick Keane has been suspended for betting on tennis matches that he wasn't involved in.
The 24 year old British player was suspended for three months and was given a $500 fine for betting on six tennis matches. The penalty wasn't as harsh as it could have been, as Keane cooperated with the Tennis Integrity Unit's investigation, and admitted his fault.
If he bets on matches again, he'll face a six month ban and a $5,000 fine. At this point, Keane isn't allowed to play or attend matches until June 29th. This may be the best time for a suspension though, as events are currently postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
No comment from the player was available as of press time.

Yeah, well, the sanction isn't that hefty at all..even that possible one after a second violation...the guy could potentially make more than that betting😉
Yeah this isn't even really a suspension, as it's likely that there won't even be any tournaments until after that date.

Yeah, exactly slim...so in fact they've just fined the guy 500$...
Have to agree with you guys. Sometimes I find it odd how different people get such different repercussions to very similar actions. 500$ fee for a professional player is literally nothing, and I believe that most matches are currently cancelled anyway.

Yeah for the most (if not the whole) duration of his suspension there won't be any games scheduled anyway, so that makes the ban pointless really..I always have been wondered why there's not a rule that makes it clear the suspension starts where there's an active season...and that's not even related to the current situation but in general.
