This story was published more than 3 years ago.

Swedish betting group Svenska Spel has announced that they'll be pledging an additional SEK5 million in grants to help outside groups fund gambling addiction research.

This round of grants will be available for groups to research gambling addiction, protective measures, and gaming responsibilities measures for operators. The operator is asking that applications for this round of funds be submitted by April 30th.

Svenska Spel has been issuing these grants since 2010, awarding SEK5 million in grants each year. There have been numerous projects funded, including one to develop an internet-based addiction treatment service and one that researched gambling addiction in pro hockey players.

We'll be sure to update readers as we learn which programs were selected as winners this year.
