Police in the Philippines conducted a series of raids in the Caraga region yesterday, arresting 13 people involved with illegal gambling rings.

The raids took place in the cities of Barangay Salvacion, Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur, Barangay Kinamlutan, Butuan City, Barangay Guiasan, Magallanes, Agusan del Norte, Barangay Abillan, and Buenavista. Those taken in to custody were found to be participating in illegal cockfighting, wherein roosters battle to the death in a ring.

Police seized seventeen cocks, P1,905 in money, and other equipment related to the crimes.

A spokesman for the police force commented on the raids, noting: "The operation of our units went into high gear following the directive of our PNP Chief, P/General Archie Francisco F. Gamboa about the relentless crackdown on all forms of illegal gambling.

"We encourage the community to provide information or report to the police any illegal gambling activities in your area."

Well this kind of "sporting events" couldn't be quarantined...right!?

Although I doubt some of the leading bookies will include any of that in their bet offering list...yeah I'm that desperate...😀
