Online betting operator GVC Holdings has announced that they've partnered with Epic Risk Management in order to fight gambling addiction in the United States as sportsbetting betting expands in the country.
The two groups will work together to promote responsible betting and work to put together educational sessions for athletes, who may be approached to alter the outcome of games that they participate in. The funding for the program will be paid for by the GVC Foundation US, which will provide the initial $2.5 million in funding for the first two years.
There will be 14 spots where the programs will be offered, including Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, New York, Tennessee, Iowa, New Jersey, Illinois, Colorado, and North Carolina.
GVC Foundation US Trustee Martin Lycka said, "As the leading provider of advisory and education in problem gambling, Epic Risk Management has done extraordinary work in Europe. Our partnership with Epic in locations throughout the US will continue that impactful mission."
Epic Risk Management CEO Paul Buck added: "Epic is excited to partner with GVC Foundation US to work in the hardest-to-reach sectors to prevent gambling-related harm."
