Betting platform group EveryMatrix has announced that they've added eSports functionality to their OddsMatrix product.
The move comes as many sportsbooks are experiencing a lack of wagers due to events around the world being canceled. This addition to OddsMatrix will allow punters to wager on video games such as FIFA 20, NBA2K20, Counter-Strike: Go, League of Legends, Dota, Overwatch, and other titles. There will be more than 5,000 live events per month, and live streams will be available for the vast majority of the competitions.
Operators interested in adding the vertical to their site can do so within two weeks, as it requires just a few tweaks to their existing platforms.
Commenting on the offering EveryMatrix CEO Ebbe Groes said, "Along with virtual sports, esports are very much in focus during this sensitive situation. For esports, we've seen an enormous increase in turnover in the past weeks, and we're expecting to see the numbers go up even more. This is a clear indicator that esports are ready to step up into the mainstream and can also appeal to regular bettors, not only to computer games enthusiasts. In particular betting on sports-based computer games such as FIFA and NBA2K are extremely popular as an easy cross-over for traditional sports players. This can generate much-needed revenues in these wobbly times."

I believe it's a very smart move on EveryMatrix part- given the current situation and all sports events being cancelled, I'm sure that operators will look for substitute option to offer to their sportsbook fans.
