Veikkaus Warns About Phony Games

Finnish gaming group Veikkaus has issued a bulletin to players where they warned that scammers are offering phony games over the phone without permission.

Veikkaus claims that the scammers have been calling Finnish players and telling them that they can play the Lottoa, Vikinglottoa and Eurojackpotia lottery games over the phone. The company wants to reiterate that these are scam calls and that customers cannot buy draw tickets over the phone.

Speaking about the issue Veikkaus' Pekka Ilmivalta said, "The calls have not been made by Veikkaus and our games cannot be purchased by telephone. If you get a marketing call and are unclear about this, you should contact Veikkaus' customer service."

"We will never sell our games over the phone or solicit customer account IDs, passwords or full personal identification numbers," Ilmivalta said. "Veikkaus' calls also never come from an unknown number."

The monopoly has said that they've contacted authorities who're investigating the origin of the calls.
