Detroit's casinos had a stellar 2019, generating $1.45 billion in adjusted gross revenue for the year, up slightly from the year prior.
The MotorCity Casino, MGM Grand Detroit, and Greektown Casino posted the numbers, which were collectively up 0.7% or $10 million higher than the year prior. This is the highest totals for the MGM Grand and MotorCity since they both opened in 1999. The MGM Grand Detroit's revenues were $623.5 million, up 0.7% from 2018. It stood as the best performing casino in the city.
The casino industry in Detroit will likely see a big boost this year as the state of Michigan has legalized both sportsbetting and internet casino gambling. Both activities are set to launch this year, and with the casinos likely launching their brands, they'll have access to a much wider audience than those in the Metro Detroit area.
