Betway Joins Swedish Trade Association

This story was published more than 4 years ago.

Betting firm Betway has announced that they've been accepted as a member into the Branschföreningen för Onlinespel (BOS), an online betting trade association within Sweden.

The move sees Betway joining an association where they'll look to fit in with other operators. Betway recently faced a large fine of SEK 5 million for violating Swedish online betting regulations and was also given a warning for any potential future violations. The company hopes that by joining the trade group they'll be able to help steer future regulations by adding their voice to the conversation.

Other operators in the group include Kindred, Mr Green, bet365, Betsson, GVC Holdings, and others.

Regulation of the Swedish market has caused multiple headaches for gaming groups that are licensed, as the country's strict rules on advertising and bonus offers have caused multiple big-name firms to be cited for violations. Recent statistics show that 85-87% of gaming in the market is handled by licensed entities.
