Sazka Posts Solid Financials in First Half

Czech betting operator Sazka Group has posted their first half 2019 financial results, noting a slip in sportsbetting numbers during the period.

Key financial indicators for the first half ending June 30th, 2019 were:

  • Gross Gaming Revenues up 6% to €908.5 million
  • Amounts wagered up 3.8% to €2.59 billion
  • The majority of revenues came draw based lottery games, coming in at €468 million for draw games
  • Passive lottery games down 9.9% to €26.8 million
  • Sportsbetting numbers down 4.7% to €194.5 million, due to the FIFA World Cup being played last year
  • Video lottery terminal numbers up 63.7% to €146.6 million
  • Digital revenues up 335.5% to €10.3 million
  • Lottery taxes of €283.2 million
  • Net gaming revenues of €625.3 million, up 6.8% from last year
  • Operating expenses down 2.2% to €461.2 million
  • Agent commissions up 2.2% to €200.3 million
  • Costs for consumables and services down 4.9% to €152 million
  • Marketing costs up to €45 million
  • Personnel expenses up 8.7% to €52 million
  • Other operating expenses down 49.5% to €11.9 million
  • EBITDA up 24% to €286.6 million
