Vera&John and InterCasino Leaving the UK

This story was published more than 4 years ago.

This week the JPG Group announced that they're pulling their Vera&John and InterCasino brands from the UK, with current customers having until August 27th to wrap up their gaming.

The announcement came in a statement from the company, which was posted to the two websites. The Vera&John site message read: "We've had some good times, haven't we? Unfortunately, even good things must come to an end, and the time has come for us to say goodbye.

"It's been wonderful, but we've reached the end of our journey together. We'd like to thank you for your loyalty and wish you all the best for the future."

The InterCasino statement read: "As one of the oldest online casinos, InterCasino has a rich history of bringing premium content to its players. So, it is with a heavy heart that we must announce that as of Tuesday 3rd September, InterCasino will no longer be operating in the UK market, and access to your account will be blocked.

"We'd like to thank you all for your loyalty and wish you all the best for the future."

JPJ has stopped promotional activity for both sites, and players will be able to wager until August 27th. Players will be able to withdraw funds until September 3rd when the site closes down.

It looks like a strange decision that one for the company to pull out two of the old time established casinos from the strongest market out there, wonder what might be the reasons behind that?

I'll take a stab at that... money.

Compliance costs and restrictions on advertising with all the regulations in the UK are making it less profitable for casinos.
