This story was published more than 5 years ago.

Swiss land betting group Grand Casino Luzern has announced the launch of their online betting brand MyCasino.ch to players within the country.

The site launched on August 22nd and is officially sanctioned by the Bundesrat, which is the country's federal council overseeing online betting. The casino group had their gaming license application approved in June, and now are in prime position to offer the second licensed online betting site in Switzerland. The site will be powered by Paf, and will feature the group's games that they've acquired licenses to offer.

Last year voters in the country approved of regulating online betting, with 73% of voters wanting to see it happened. The new laws for regulation came into effect on January 1st, and the country began blocking access to unlicensed sites in July. As of publication time, the Grand Casino Luzern and Grand Casino Baden are the only two groups licensed to provide online betting sites to punters.

As they say "fist come first served" so I think the companies who entered the Swiss online market soonest will probably hugely benefit of that...especially if there's only two licensed online casinos! They're probably quite pleased with that.
