GTA Casino Update Won't Go Live in Several Countries

This story was published more than 5 years ago.

A hotly anticipated update to the video game Grand Theft Auto Online will apparently not be playable by players in over 50 countries, as it prominently features gambling, which is restricted in those jurisdictions.

The update brings the Diamond Casino to players, letting them gamble at the resort using virtual chips. While the update downloads for everyone, players in dozens of countries will not be able to get in on the action, as gambling is restricted. This even translates to free to play or social experiences, and it appears that GTA Online is included in that section as well.

Some of the countries that are blocked out of the gambling feature include Cyprus, Poland, Iceland, China, and others.

The Diamond Casino will bring a full casino experience to GTA players, allowing them to play blackjack, poker, slots, and other casino games using their in-game credits. Players can also buy penthouses and host private sessions, allowing players the chance to ease-up on jacking cars and encouraging them to try and beat the house.
