Aristocrat Suing Ainsworth Over IP

This story was published more than 4 years ago.

Australian gaming giant Aristocrat Technologies is suing Ainsworth Game Technology over reported IP infringement related to gaming machines.

The lawsuit was filed in Federal Court this week, with the company claiming that Ainsworth is violating Australian consumer laws by using Aristocrat's patented technology. Court documents aren't yet available, but media sources are claiming the dispute arises from slot machines. Aristocrat is reportedly claiming that tech from its Lightning Link games was lifted by Ainsworth for their own devices.

For their part, Ainsworth calls the claims hogwash and stands ready to defend their games.

The case's first hearing will be on July 17th, and it's likely that we'll learn more at that time.
