Maine Legalizes Sports Betting

This story was published more than 4 years ago.

The state of Maine has passed through a bill that will legalize sportsbetting in the New England state.

The House and Senate passed through Legislative Document 553, which would legalize wagering on sports within the state's borders. The bill was only one line in its verbiage but would allow for casinos, racetracks, and other establishments. The measure will now head to Governor Janet Mills, who can sign the bill into law.

No timetable for the activity to go live in Maine, but other states that have passed sportsbetting have integrated the service within weeks to months.

We'll let readers know when sportsbetting goes live in The Pine Tree State.
