Cyprus NBA requests €1 million to fight gambling addiction

This story was published more than 4 years ago.

This week it was revealed that the Cyprus National Betting Authority has asked the government for €1 million to help fight gambling addiction on the island nation.

The request would see the regulator ending up putting the funds to help with programs that assist those that are addicted to gambling, especially youth that are increasingly growing in addiction numbers. The money would go to an assortment of new initiatives as well as an intervention and care center. Additionally, the money would go to help fund existing programs fighting gambling addiction.

Cyprus is a small nation in the Mediterranean with a population of 1.1 million. The island is known for being a popular holiday destination, and there are multiple casinos that can be played at.

It's not known whether or not the funds will be granted, but Casino Listings News will update readers should the money be granted and inform on any additional programs that are funded.

Yeah I thought the same exact thing reading this..they could ask for all they want but whether the state will approve that request is quite different matter...surely would be fine if the higher floors of the state administration decide to grant local gambling authorities with at least half of that.

I hope they get approved, maybe that would set an example and open doors in other places around the world for the same type of funding.
Plus I really hate to see kids struggling, with anything really, addiction included.
