New Mexico Casino Launches New Sportsbook

This story was published more than 5 years ago.

This week the Pojoaque Pueblo tribe in New Mexico announced that they've launched their own sportsbook, making it the second sportsbook to launch in the state.

The book is the result of the tribe working with the Hilton Buffalo Thunder Resort & Casino in Santa Fe, a major resort destination in the northern part of the state. Punters will have the chance to wager on events around the world, including football, basketball, baseball, golf, and more. The launch is the second in the state, coming after the Santa Ana Pueblo launched the first book in October of last year.

The sportsbetting market in the United States became a wide possibility after the Supreme Court struck down a ban on the activity last spring. There have been a handful of states to already pass an implement the activity, including New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. The large number of tribes in New Mexico will also give the possibility of more books coming to the Land of Enchantment.
