MLS Signs Deal With MGM Resorts

This story was published more than 4 years ago.

This week Major League Soccer announced that they've signed a multiple year agreement with MGM Resorts and Roar Digital, making both official gaming partners.

The agreement will see MGM become the first Official Gaming Partner of the league, and Roar has become the Official Sports Betting Partner of the league. Both groups will benefit with exclusive marketing opportunities, which include footage, photography, exclusive promotions, signage, and hospitality in events. The groups will also get to promote their betting services on MLS social media and digital platforms.

Professional sports leagues across the United States have been striking sponsorship deals with betting firms recently, as sportsbetting legalization became a possibility after the Supreme Court of the United States struck down a ban on the activity last year.

Commenting on the deals MLS Commissioner Don Garber said, "MGM Resorts is a leader in sports betting, and they recognize the progress of our league and the growth of the sport in the United States and Canada. Together, we will deliver cutting-edge data and analytics to MLS fans, and fan engagement will be the driving force behind every initiative in our partnership."

MGM Resorts CEO Jim Murren also commented, adding: "Pairing MLS action and real-time data and analytics with MGM Resorts' best-in-class sports betting operations and innovative technology and mobile offerings will truly wow soccer fans and showcase our shared commitment to providing a thrilling and immersive sports experience."

Watching some of the EPL games online through the American sports channels I've been amazed to see how much more popular soccer has become in this part of the world in the last coupe of years.
We could refer that to the increased percentage of multinational population in US or the fact some of the huge stars more and more often have been choosing to play the last days of their careers in MLS which is a great advert itself but I think the locals now are a lot more into the game than maybe a decade or just 5 years back.
So ..from that perspective is not surprising MLS looks to be a desired business partner for some of the top names in the betting branch.
