Wynn Files Lawsuit With Genting Over Look of Casino

This story was published more than 4 years ago.

Land casino group Wynn Resorts has taken umbrage with Genting's upcoming Las Vegas resort, filing a lawsuit with the group over the look of the new property.

Wynn claims that Genting's Resorts World Las Vegas looks too similar to Wynn's already existing properties, and that visitors will confuse the two different venues. The new resort is going to be located across the street from the Wynn Casino in Las Vegas, which is on the northern part of the Las Vegas Strip. Wynn contends that their buildings are copyrighted architectural work. They're seeking a share of the property's profits as well as additional damages.

The property upon where the new resort will sit was purchased in 2013, with groundbreaking taking place in 2015. The location is slated to open in 2020, bringing an Asian flare to the Strip.

An interesting story really, the last thing I would though of is that a casino may sue another one for the way it's building has looks but obviously we're about to witness such trial now...would it be interesting what will be the court's decision because I have no idea if those casinos in fact look alike.
