Gaming firm Betsson announced this week that they're going to be closing subsidiary firm NetPlay's London offices and will not be renewing contracts with Channel 5 or ITV.
NetPlay has been underperforming, and the group's 40 London-based employees will have their jobs under consultation for the next year. The company will keep their online casino sites operational in the UK, with SuperCasino, Vernons, and Jackpot247 all continuing to take wagers, although the company's Malta office will manage the brands.
Betsson purchased NetPlay in 2017, but the company has had a negative impact on the company as of late, having posted a loss during the first quarter of the year.
Speaking about the decision Betsson's Roderick Spiteri said, "We have taken the decision not to renew with the TV channels. After the TV contracts expire we will move the operations to our Malta office and keep operating the brands from there."
