Microgaming Working With Slingshot Studios

This story was published more than 6 years ago.

Internet gaming giant Microgaming has announced that they're working with a new independent studio dubbed Slingshot Studios, which will develop content for the Microgaming platform.

The studio will release their first game, Cash of Kingdoms, on October 10th, and will feature a fantasy theme along with a unique Invading Wilds feature. The game was initially teased at ICE earlier this year, and will be featured at casinos that offer Microgaming's library of games. The studio will remain independent and will develop slots and other casino games. Slingshot was founded in 2016 and has a small team of developers, artists, and management specialists.

Earlier this year Microgaming announced that they were focusing on working with independent studios, bringing fresh software to their platform from outside voices.

Commenting on the launch Microgaming CEO John Coleman said, "Microgaming's extensive digital portfolio will benefit from the unique personality and expertise of Slingshot Studios, who are developing original games with exciting engines and features, all targeted at specific markets and audiences. The content they have coming is fantastic, and their drive to create and challenge is incredible. Slingshot are the latest in a number of game studios to be announced as exclusive providers to Microgaming, and we look forward to unveiling more content from them in the coming months."

Slingshot Studios Creative Director Richard Vermaak added: "At Slingshot Studios, our energy and imagination push us forward. We love building games that people love to play, and we can't wait to share them with Microgaming for their operators' players to enjoy. Cash of Kingdoms is the first taste of what's to come."

Yeah I've noticed the same thing from the recent CL news articles about Microgaming, obviously that's their new approach instead of just developing games themselves and I think that's wise action from their side.
It will give them a lot more variance in the games they offer targeting a larger spectrum of players and in the same time would of be a great opportunity to all these independent studios to present their products through the Microgaming channels.
