Today a new record online jackpot was smashed when a lucky punter hit the Microgaming Mega Moolah Mega Jackpot for a gigantic €18,915,721 prize.
The record-setting win takes over the £13,212,882 win picked up at Betway a few years back. The win easily outclasses that previous win, and will no doubt set off a PR blitz for Microgaming and the casino that hosted the win. Of course, this win was picked up by our in house progressive jackpots tracker just a few seconds before we began working on the story, so we don't have a lot of details just yet.
The Mega Moolah took the mantle of hosting the largest online progressive jackpot win from NetEnt's Mega Fortune Mega, which actually hosted a win of its own yesterday for €3.4 million.
The jackpot can be picked up on a series of different slots, and is awarded completely randomly via a jackpot wheel bonus game. On average the prize pays out $5,358,744 every 9 weeks. Needless to say, this is the big boy on the block, and will remain that way until a developer comes up with a jackpot that grows as rapidly as Mega Moolah.

God I wonder what goes through a person's mind when they strike a prize like that. Do they realize how big of a win they struck? It'd be fascinating to be a fly on the wall.
So how does this get paid out? Any jackpot that size in the US would be in the form of an annuity (and then the government will graciously take their cut, around 1/3).
And am I right that the jackpot can be won at any bet level?
I can't imagine winning that amount online (or anywhere) and not thinking it was a glitch.
Yeah it can be won at any bet level, though I think you have more chance of triggering the bonus round if you have a bigger bet. After that its all the same though.
I've received word that the winner was playing at Grand Mondial Casino. That is good for a couple of reasons. Grand Mondial is part of the Casino Rewards group and they pay these jackpots in one big lump sum. They love doing the giant novelty cheque thing with photos of the winner (if they agree of course).

I usually play this game with 0.25 or 0.5 and felt it getting more difficult to get into the bonus game.
Anyway, I really wonder about the bet size and if the winner was a beginner of this game.
