This week Canadian betting firm The Stars Group announced that they've signed a deal with Resorts Casino in Atlantic City to launch their BetStars brand in the state of New Jersey.
The two groups are already working together to deploy poker and sportsbetting products for the online space. The original PokerStars product originally launched in 2016 after a lengthy review from regulators, following the group's leaving of the American market after Black Friday in 2011. The new product will launch in the near future, giving players the chance to access casino games as well as sportsbetting options.
In a press release Stars Group Senior VP of Strategy and Operations, USA Matt Primeaux said, "We believe The Stars Group is uniquely qualified with the experience and insight needed to make sports betting a success in New Jersey. We have successfully launched the BetStars brand in many European regulated markets and we have invested heavily to create a premier global offering. Working with our longstanding partner, Resorts, we are really excited to introduce a brand-new consumer experience by bringing New Jersey fans closer to the sports and the teams that they love."

We all know the Stars Group are famous for their poker clients and their offerings in the casino games but it's new to me that they are dealing like a sportsbook too, might be a redicilous fact but I've never heard of their sportsbook before.
