This story was published more than 5 years ago.

Casino gambling in Macau grew by 14.4% in the second quarter this year, as VIP participation dropped but mass punter numbers increased.

The Macau Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau revealed the casino numbers, with VIP Gross Gaming Revenues up 14.4% when compared to the same time last year. Baccarat brought in 55.7% of all revenues during the period, bringing in MOP 83.99 billion during the period. Despite this, the numbers were down 4.47% from the first quarter of this year.

Slot machine play generated MOP 32.67 billion, rising 23.6% from the same time last year. Table games and electronic table game revenues were up 7.7% to MOP 661 million.

Total Gross Gaming Revenues were up 17.2% to MOP 73.71 billion.

Macau is the largest gaming market in the world, bringing in billions of dollars annually. The play easily eclipses the second-largest market, Las Vegas, which sits in the shadow of the gaming Goliath.

Yeah I think the Macau gambling authorities and casinos have changed their approach toward the medium sized players and that gave the results they wanted.
OK the VIP players could still be pretty much their main priority but obviously the rest are those who could really raise your business to a whole new level.
